I really like the default windows xp layout and find it hard getting used to these so called 'other shell replacement apps'
Is there an easy way to have a few more colours, other than the default blue, gold, silver?

Right-click the desktop, click Properties
Go to the Appearance tab, click the Advanced button
Now you have the Advanced Appearance property sheet up - you can select an item from the drop-down list and set the backgound & foreground colours, and font size & colour.
Alternatively you can click on one of the objects in the preview window above to select which one you want to change.
As you change the colours and fonts, the preview updates - but if you want to abort the changes hit Cancel instead of OK.
If it's just simple colour changes you want to do, that's the way.
~ I have CDO. It's like OCD except the letters are in alphabetical order, as they should be. ~
