    Dreamweaver MX testing server

I've been trying to insert a recordset into my site in dreamweaver but it's giving me hassle because it seems to think I have not set up my testing server, which I have.

I get this when I try to insert a recordset using the 'Insert' panel (the Bindings windows is greyed out, so i cant use that).

But my site setup looks fine to me, and the localhost works.

Here is the testing server definition just incase anyone can see a problem.

I really need this sorted can any of you guys help?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi yamangman

Start all over again. Create 2 folder first, one on your Hard-Drive somewhere and the other within C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ then load up Dreamweaver, go to the sites box and select 'Edit Sites' > 'New' and then get the tabs in the site folder to look like this:

    Local Info

    Remote Info

    Testing Server

Obviously replace anything like "FOLDER" or "DIRECTORY OF FOLDER" with the actual paths or folders you have on your Hard-Drive.

    I hope this helps mate

My site was defined ok already, but I thought it might be a good idea to redefine it like you said, so I did but I still had the same problem and it still tells me I need to define a testing server before I can insert a recordset (the bindings box is still unavailable). The thing is, I can drag and drop tables and query's from my database connection onto my site I guess it's a bug with the version I'm using. Cheers anyway Tom, thanks for your suggestion.

It's still going to cause me hassle because it still interferes with any live objects and data I want to place onto the site, even though I have set up a connection and recordsets and can access the site through the localhost URL, Deamweaver still insists I have no testing server. I really need this sorted out, do you guys have any further ideas?

Hmmm sounds well iffy. Your doing everything it says! Possibly is a bug, maybe try re-installing Dreamweaver or seeing if you can get a more up to date copy?

I have 7.0.1 which is apparantly the latest version. What the hell s going on? I need this fixed.

Typical, 2 seconds after I post this I sort it. I included a page in my site that already has dreamweaver Live content (a Live nav bar), it still said I had no testing server, so i went to define the testing server with that pag open and chose Done, and it finally accepted it as set up for the entire site. Strange bug.

    Cheers for the help Tom

Finally sorted it, I rememberd I turned off DCOM some time ago because, let's face it, it is a secuirty risk if you don't need it. Now it's back on, it seems to be working flawlessly.
