    What Linux?

    Ok im looking to change my server over to linux and was just wondering what the best linux to use is. I havent ever used linux before, so any guides on how to how to setup my server would be nice aswell.

    I hope you understand what i wrote there, im a bit tired

    with about 350 distributions in use today, that kinda depends on what you want to do, how much hand-holding you want, how much customisation you want to do, etc

    all thats really need is something very basic, becuase all it has to do is hold my website nothing else the website is basic html so i doubt i will need anything special will redhat do as i have a copy here.

    that depends. red hat is utterly obsolete, and as a result receives no security patches. this makes it tricky to ensure you won't get hacked.

    red hat also starts a whole bucket load of unneccessary and insecure services at system startup, unless you want to start hacking about with chkconfig.

    personally, for a server, i'd run debian - not the easiest thing ever to install, but easy to keep up to date and secure.
