    Re: PHP /WordPress Training

1 on 1 training will always be expensive. The best way to learn coding in an interactive way is to dive in and do it. Start small to learn the basics and build up from there.

    Re: PHP /WordPress Training

I've seen people recommend Codecademy before as a free method of learning in an interactive way, though it obviously doesn't involve another person as you are asking.

    Re: PHP /WordPress Training

I'd second just diving in and learning yourself. It's easy enough to get set up and the amount of information online (particularly the PHP manual and resources like Stack Overflow) make it fairly easy to get started and solve any issues.

1-1 training means you can't really take your time, and if you want to keep it cheap you won't be able to afford not getting your head around anything. Do you have any other development experience in other languages? If you're coming from C or Java then the syntax is similar.

Another alternative is to try a college course? You'd be learning in a group, but will get individual tutor time and it'll probably be cheaper than 1-1. Not seen any courses doing PHP anywhere near me, though.

    Re: PHP /WordPress Training

A quick way to get started is to install XAMPP on your computer. This provides everything you need to get started with PHP.

    http://www.apachefriends.org/index.html

From there, just try things and by all means ask questions here along the way (be sure to make the subject of each thread as informative as possible, that is, don't just write "need help" or "not working").

What exactly do you want to use PHP for?
