Lost XP Password
I built a computer for someone I know about 12 months ago, she has had no problems until now when she lost the windows XP password! This is a major prob as she can’t for the life of her remember the password.
It’s windows xp pro and there are no other accounts on the system to get in that way. Can anyone point me in the right direction as I don’t wanna have to do a reinstall and lose her data. I also understand that you can’t slave the drive to get the data off either due to the NTFS passwords?
Thanks in advance

If you built it you should have the admin password, just log in as administrator and you can remove the password on her account via control panel/users.

Best thing to do and easiest. .is . . .Boot into 'Safe Mode' (Press F8 when computer starting up - to get into boot options) Then once the login screen comes up there will be the other accounts and 'Adminstrator' account. .
Just click this account which should have no password. .Login go to User control panel and remove the password from your friends account. .I did this and worked fine for me. .
If not those password reset disks are worth a try although didn't seem to work for me. .
