About LinkBacksSo i'm in the process of building a 2nd rig for LANs but will i have to buy another copy of Windows or can I just transfer my SSD from my main rig and use that copy of Windows? Only one of the rigs will ever be on at a time.

If it is an OEM license then definitely not. A retail license can be transferred to another machine, but I expect you will end up fighting the copy protection in Windows and having to re-activate by phone which could get irritating pretty quick. When it comes down to it, one copy of Windows is supposed to be used on one machine, and what you are proposing isn't in the spirit of that.
Had a feeling that was the case. Oh well, hope the SteamOS hurries up and gains traction soon.
