I'm currently using Syncovery to back up my files.

I'll often want to do different things to different files in the same folder. For example I'll back up all my application installers to my NAS. In addition, I'll encrypt and backup some key stuff to the cloud, but exactly what varies:

  • For Adobe stuff the purchase/licensing details but not the installer
  • For Truecrypt/Keepass the installer
  • For minor open source stuff, nothing.


I can easily do that with different profiles selecting the files I want, but I feel like I'm losing control of the high level view of things. Look at an individual profile and I'll see some folders ticked, some not, and some files ticked, and some not. Some files might be being backed up in different ways by up to 3 profiles. And my worry of course is that some files or folders might not be being picked up at all. And the only way to check is to compare all files/folders over all profiles.

Is there a better way?

Is there for example a backup app that allows me to tag files/folders with one or more categories, then run the profile against the tags. Then I'd be able to easily see what files/folders have been missed off, and what backup options I have for each.

Or is there another way?
