New MoBo - Old Op System

    Hi,

I have just changed my mobo from an IC7-G to a basic IC7(the original having died) and when I boot up my XP Pro op system, created from the old mobo,it goes so far and then blue screens.I am not surprised due the different characteristics of the 2 boards but is there anyway I can get XP to re-generate its configuration without re-installing it?

Needless to say my hard disk is set up the way I like it and as I am approaching senility it will take forever to get back to where I was.

p.s. I tried running Recovery from my XP Pro install disk but that takes me into a DOS window and, although I know DOS (oldun),I do not know if any of the commands are of any use.

    Any help for this bit?

You tried booting just into safe mode?
Failing that do a repair install.
