    Net Nanny is the best known product. Best bet is to create separate user accounts for different users if you want to protect folders, and also do not make children administrators of the machine so they can't install malware.

    Re: Looking for a parental control software

    I set parental control for my sisters family a christmas. In the end I went with a combination of 3 things;

    1. As wasabi says, its best to create separate non-admin users accounts
    2. For filtering I went with openDNS Family Shield just make sure you register a free account so you can remove the ads and customize the settings. This is great because filtering at the DNS level means all laptops, phones, internet tv etc are filtered.
    3. Lastly for control and monitoring, I setup Microsoft Security Essentials. Being able to manage everything centrally from your web broswer is awesome. All other solutions I found were time consuming to maintain

    Really pleased with the results. Best of all, this setup costs nothing and works across multiple devices

    OpenDNS Family Shield would be the bets one.

    Re: Looking for a parental control software

    I was asking the same question some time ago and based on the opinions I was testing Net Nanny and PCWebControl and I stayed with the second one.
