Permissions on a Dell Business laptop

    Hi guys,
I was asked to help out today with transferring files from a friend's old dell business laptop to his new one. I just can't seem to figure this one out - how do I get permissions such that the files make it onto the other computer? Only the folders end up making it across. I have tried taking ownership of all the folders etc and giving fiddling with permissions but it simply didn't seem to be possible. It wasn't even possible to transfer a single file via a USB stick. Can anybody think what I'm doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance...

There's nothing special about permissions based off a particular brand or model of machine, but if it's a business laptop is this a managed device (ie is it likely to be locked down by corporate policies)?

Assuming the above not to be the case, and also that it's a Windows device: robocopy %source_path% %destination_path% /e /copyall
