Re: video editing software
Lightworks comes as a lite (free) version and a paid for pro version.

The paid for version can be on a monthly subscription basis, so if you need the features of the pro version, you could subscribe for a short period (not sure if there is a minimum period) while you do the editing.
There are other free video editors - although they tend to be more for Mac and Linux platforms.
They all tend to have a fairly steep learning curve to get the best out of them though!
Re: video editing software
Win 7 has windows movie maker (either built in, or download from MS). It's actually quite good for audio syncing etc., but won't take mp4s so you'll need to convert them to wmv or avi first. Likewise you'll probably want to re-encode the output as well.
Re: video editing software
If its just for one project you can download a trial of premiere pro - its an excellent application plus there are a ton of tutorial videos online for pretty much anything you can think of.

Haha yep it should do - I've never used it but it should have all the features you need for this. And no faffing about with freeware etc :)

Quick Google brought up this page (new member so can't post URL's understandably. Replace xxx with www):

Looks like you can still get Windows Movie Maker 2012 here:

I know more about the encoding process rather than the editing process but this may be of use to you.

Done for you. Thanks, both for understanding the limitation, and the helpful post. Welcome to HEXUS.
