Where do you buy your software from?

just wondering as we need to buy some ms office discs, and also is it possible to buy say a full copy of office 2000 ? or do you have to buy the latest?

myself, i get my software from mirror.ox.ac.uk/debian, or i buy it from the company's website directly

We get OEM Office 2k3 Pro for about £170 , but we resell that with the PC's we provide for clients.

wow thats pretty cheap! i think we would look for the full version as we have age'ing computers so would wanna move office around, and good links for that?

retail version is considerably more. ( RRP is over 350 , but I think we usually get it for around £260 + VAT , but thats via a trade only ditributor )

<rant>On a side note I use OpenOffice.org home, partially becuase its free, but mainly because Word has brought more pain, suffering and frustration to my life than any other package I have to use. OpenOffice Writer for all its blandness, just does things right. It doesn't overide my printer settings, it doesn't write my text how it thinks is correct, it doesn't hide usefull options under layers and layers of useless windows and so on. Writer does what I ask it to, if it looks wrong its my fault not because Word 'knows better'.</rant>

Once i needed some ftp software, I didnt buy some, I wrote it

wrote a pop3 server once, was fully featured enough that OE and mailreader.com could interact with it
