    Windows 8.1 Student Edition

    Sup guys,

Ok, by the end of the month i'll have all the delicious parts for my brand new PC. I'm going to have to do a completely clean install of Windows 8.1 and have some questions regarding the student version, tricky thing is, i wont be a student again till mid-September so was wondering what proof needs to be given that you are/will be a student? Is it possible to get the windows copy a month or two before becoming an actual Student? It's more than half the price of the regular version so it's a saving that will definitely come in handy. I consider myself pretty tech-savvy, but all the different windows versions and whether or not its an upgrade version etc. gets highly confusing.

    Appreciate any help. Thanks.

    What are you studying?
If you are studying in the areas of computers, science and mathematics then ask your college/univeristy (assuming that is where you are studying) if they have a dreamspark premium subscription.

Studying my final year of Business, so unfortunately its not something i'm entitle to, just pretty curious what proof you have to give in order to get the student edition on the Microsoft store, it doesn't give any clear rules/restrictions on how the process works.

Well I don't know for Microsoft, but with Adobe it's a case of proof of enrolment i.e. a document containing your name, student ID, a recent date and course/degree title. Also a academic email is usually required so name@uni.ac.uk

When I bought Win7 student edition, I had to supply my .ac.uk email and the download instructions and the Product key were sent to that email address

When you say you're not a student until September, is this because of the end of term?

Is so, you *are* a student. Student enrollment is Sept to Sept (sometimes late August). Just because you're not on campus doesn't mean you're not one
