    coder for hire

i'm not a coder for hire.

i know a coder for hire. he's a friend, he's helped me out by making programs for me at an inexpensive rate. i owe him. so i'm trying to help him out and maybe score him some decent paying jobs. he's currently going through college for programming and stuff, but as someone who doesn't program, who has hired this guy to actually do some complex programming, i can vouch he can get the job done at the right price.

    so basically what i'm asking..

anyone need a programmer who isn't a low baller? or have any tips to fight him some cool jobs?

Without experience their best bet will be something like oDesk for freelance jobs.

Pay sucks and you have to compete with people in Asia doing it at 1/5 the regular rate

yeah that's why he doesn't use those sites. :\ because a whole team will complete it much cheaper than he can afford or even humanly do.

Only way it's competitive is if you have a genuine niche skill that no graddy level dev can compete with

Do you have any proof of his skill? Has he got a portfolio? People need to know answers to questions like that before they hire a coder. If you can get me the answer to them questions I'll see if I can help him out.
