    smileys and emoticons

smileys and emoticons have been a part of communicating via text for such a long time. if you're friends with any of the younger generation you'll see to what extend the use of emoticons have grown to. basically any service used for communication via text has emoticons and smileys implemented. like this forum's emoticons for example.

are you a fan of using smileys and emoticons?

i am. i enjoy using them from time to time. my most favorite all of time emoticons was Microsoft's MSN emoticons. pity they're gnoe now. skype emoticons are cool though.

so what is your take on smileys? are they overly annoying? do you use them?

edit sry if this is the wrong section. i figure "smileys and emoticons" are included in most "software", so i thought this might be the section for it. if it isn't, please move it to the proper thread. im kinda new here still.

    Re: smileys and emoticons

It depends which context they are used in, if it's just me talking to my mates than fair enough emoticons all the way but, if it's me talking to someone such as my parents it just seems out of character, a 65 year old shouldn't be sending me winky faces..

    Re: smileys and emoticons

I dislike when I want to use a text based smiley and it gets turned into a stupid little yellow graphic thing -.-
