Smart FTP Q? + html tutor site?

Does anyone one know of a good site to learn HTML?

I sign on to SmartFTP for a website and I see folders for mail, public_ftp, public html, tmp, and www. What are all of these? How do they work?
I wonder what I should put in my signiture...

If you want to start at the basics try this site:

To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

The public_html is your domains 'root' (were the pages are uploaded) same for ftp, www is just a shortcut to your public_html (just shorter..) and mail is were the server keeps your mail account profiles for such as neomail
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
