NAV 2004 alternatives and reasons

hi all,

I've been a NAV user for a while now, its always done the job very well for me.

I've been starting to get a little frustrated with NAV's bloatness and slow performance.

What alternatives are you guys using (I'm aware of the bigger names) how do they compare ? does anyone else find nav 2004 sluggish ?

I use Avast! Home 4.5 it's feature rich enough for me.

Mcafee Viruscan v7.

Seems nice to me, doesnt take much memory (<18mb) up and runs fast.

The definition updater system seems good too

Niroe - no your not alone.

NAV 2001/2002 was always good to me, never had 1 virus slip through the net and it never touched on performance, however 2003 was a tad frustrating, and 2004 although it has been solid for me, it is still becoming a little bit of a memory hogger

I'll throw my Hat in on this one as well. Been a long time NAV (and NIS) user but will deffo be changing next renewal.

My bro, who has done an lengthy spell as a "PC Doctor" whilst out of work swears by Mcafee and bearing in mind that 95% of his calls are AV related I thought that a worthwhile recommendation.

Been using Kaspersky as work, but didnt get on with it when I tried it at home.

ESet NOD32. Most efficient checker I've used out of 7, that included NAV and Kaspersky. Microsoft have been using them for the past 4 years and counting. Dell use them in SAN units. Cheap subscriptions too.

I use NOD32.

But I used FreeAVG for months and found this good enough for home use.

The best antivirus out there is common sense if you use this then really windows antivirus is good enough.
