How do you stop other users...

I have xp home installed and I was wondering how I can stop other users on my pc, mainly my brother. From going into files that do not concern them. I would also like to know how to make recent documents clear itself after every login or out?

I cannot do as you suggested mate. We both use the same machine with different logins.

That's what he means. Only give your user access to the files. As long as your brother logs in as himself he won't be able to access them.

As for clearing out dodgy mydocument histories. Windows Washer is good there are bound to be freeware programs out there.

IIRC with XP Home you can't access the security tab to set ntfs permissions unless you boot in safe mode - Home has only Simple File-sharing and as such you can't access the ACLs from the default gui, not even for local file permissions as well as network ones. Not 100% sure of this tho, but a few google links seem to back this up.

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_home_sectab.htm has instructions for how to get the security tab in XP Home without having to revert to safe mode.
