Msn Messenger and IE Problem

Hi all

i've done something strange to my messenger not sure how but i am unable to log in, get the error code 0x01000303 and the message, sign in name you have entered does not exsist or the password is incorrect, it's definetly correct and i can sign in via hotmail website, yahoo messenger works fine and internet connectivity is fine, also got the message with firewall enabled and disabled and i'm able to sign in using laptop and brother machine.

Ok second problem (looks sheepish)

My intenet explorere refuses to display and encrypted pages i.e natwest online banking i simply get the url not found error "Cannot find server or DNS Error" again the site works fine in firefox, have got options set to allow SSL connections and have got java instaled?

I'm really stuck (especially with the messenger thing) and would really appreciate some help .

OK, I can help on one point, and tell you about the other:

For the IE error, just download firefox. Everyone else will say that, so I thought I might as well be the 1st .

For the MSN error. I think I've seen it before on my parents PC. I'm afraid it was only solved by a re-format (which we were going to do anyway). I might have made a thread about the error on these forums somewhere - there might be something on there that I've missed out .

the ie errors? who knows. perhaps the spyware you have installed which is transmitting all your personal details to base can't cope with https

Do you have spybot and ad-aware etc?

tryed using windows messenger, also uninstall msn 6.0(i presume) and install the beta ( 7.0) see if that works if not i have no idea, quick format probably better otherwise find another program for im.

Forgot to mention - when we had the messenger problem, other versions wouldn't work, and since we were using windows 98, we didn't have windows messenger.

Thanks for the sugestions guys, just literally done a reformat and re-installed everything and got it configured which is why i'm hesitant to do it all again, Firefox is my main browser and i have spybot and adawre installed and running i have no spyware on my machine, just kind of frustrating that just reformated and have got everythign running sweet apart from this glitch, tried windows messenger same error and beta 7 same error ????

anayone else got anyideas without me having to do a second reformat in as many days?
