Maxtor 6Y080M0 & windows XP Problem

I am building my new PC Tomorrow. I am expecting to have a problem as i have a Maxtor 6Y080M0 Plus 9 80Gb Serial ATA hard drive. I looked on the Maxtor website, but couldn't find the utility/driver i wanted. I have read that on SATA drives you have to press a key to install a SATA driver for SATA drives, but i can't find the one for mine. Is what i read true? Do i need the driver?

Thank you in advance for your time

You press F6 when it asks if you need to install 3rd party drivers (you'll need it for your SATA device).
You then need the drivers for the SATA controler, not the hard-drive itself.
If you let us know what motherboard / SATA card its being attached to, we can link you to them if needed.

    Moving this to software.

    Download : http://usa.asus.com/support/download...0d.zip~zaqwedc

Extract onto a floppy, put it in the drive. Run setup (usualy boot off the CD). After loading stuff into memory, at the bottom of the screen it'll say somthing like "If you need 3rd party drivers hit F6"....hit F6.
Then select the one for your board (should be pretty obvious : usualy different ones for different OS's).

It'll see the HD like a normal IDE one. Away you go

Look in the motherboard packaging, there should be a floppy labelled "S-ATA Drivers" or something like that

Or get the drivers from the above link (Agents post).
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.
