This post may be that of a different one from the usual, but I'd like to share a small tip on changing the dotted highlight box to the much loved blue, translucent highlight box we see on the modern Windows OS's. This is seen by click-dragging the cursor anywhere upon the desktop.
Now the purpose for this is due to the fact that every now and then, this highlight box mysteriously reverts to the old school dotted outline version which seems to have a few problems. One of these is the fact that it is somewhat harder to see compared to the standard blue, translucent box.

There are two ways to go about doing this, but does lead on to the same settings menu.
LONG METHOD:
- Click Start ->Control Panel
- Click System and Security
- Click System
- Click Advanced System Settings (on the side)
- Under The Advanced Tab - Under Performance Click Settings
- Tick Show Translucent Selection Rectangle
SHORT METHOD:
- Click Start
- Type View Advanced System Settings
- Under The Advanced Tab - Under Performance Click Settings
- Tick Show Translucent Selection Rectangle
