Windows 8.1 start menu (metro) apps won't connect to internet

    Hi,
I have just installed 8.1 on a new machine and I am connected to the Internet in desktop mode (wirelessly) but when I go to the start screen (metro) nothing will connect to the internet. The store tells me I'm not connected, Internet explorer states not connected etc. the desktop mode shows connected and everything works. I have also been unable to link my Microsoft account to.

    Any suggestions appreciated

Re: Windows 8.1 start menu (metro) apps won't connect to internet

I searched and tried everything, in the end I put in my widows disk and and reinstalled windows keeping all of my files programs and settings and this worked and did not remove anything. I believe if you do this using the refresh option in windows it removes some if the things that you have installed. Would still love to know what the issue was though
