This is really messing up my head.....

I inherited my GFs old P4 1.5GHz MedionPC earlier this year, and have recently got my hands on Media Centre Edition 2005.

I wiped the HDD and installed MCE2005, and everything worked fine. Then I installed into it a new bigger HDD as the boot drive, so I wiped both HDDs, formatted them, and tried to reinstall MCE2005 onto it again.

Now here's the problem......installation goes fine, then I hit the Windows desktop and I notice that the good looking XP Media Centre Edition 2005 wallpaper has gone and the taskbar is the bare grey one.

Systems menu shows the installation as MCE2002!!!! I wouldn't really bother so much until I tried to install Office XP 2003 Pro....the installation shield program runs and then stops displaying it doesn't run in Safe Mode!!!

The other problem I noticed is that in Admin Tools, Computer Management, Disk Managment doesn't load stating a RPC problem.

I've unpartitioned and formatted all the drives and reinstall 3 times now, and the same problem occurs!!!

I know for sure that MCE2005 works as I installed it from the very same CDs before on the same system!!
