"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."
of course you can
did you even look on kde.org ?
there are packages for most distros on it.
the fact that KDE is pretty much used exclusivly on linux suggests that a linux distro would be able to run it
It is Inevitable.....
Yes you can, you're going to have to make it work however.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
I've found debs for it all be it alpha and kde 3.3.1 not 3.3.2, althought what do you expect from a beta release
You could always build it from source, it looks like most of the deps are there

That's what I thought, but some pages on the internet said that it wasn;t currently supported.Originally Posted by directhex
Pah, I'll just try it tomorrow and see what happens!

I know a lot of people who have complained it's not as simple as that, but just like everthing else, it should work.

well apt-get install kde worked here, installs 3.2.2
if you want 3.3, you need unstable sources - the procedure to set unstable sources as secondary importance is:
the default will be -t testing (i.e. sarge), with -t unstable as a command line option to get something from the unstable debian, if you want it. be careful mixing like this, though!Code:echo 'APT::Default-Release "testing";' >> /etc/apt/apt.conf echo 'deb http://the.earth.li/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free' >> /etc/apt/sources.list echo 'deb-src http://the.earth.li/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free' >> /etc/apt/sources.list aptitude update aptitude install -t unstable kde
Okay, just installed Debian and KDE, and everything is fine. Thanks for the Open Source articles on the main site, directhex!
