lost my hdd and got a new 1 today but cant get win7 to install, 1st boot device is dvd but just get a line going down the left hand side of screen after it boots up.
its a tyan s7010 mobo is there something that im missing?

no not unless the dvd drive is shot ;(
and it is, got another and working now
I bought a brand new Panasonic dvd writer last year, used it like once, went to use it again and it didn't work, thinking it couldn't be faulty, tried everything else, changed the drive eventually as it was knackered. Just don't make em like they used to I guess.

yeah was the dvd drive tho hardly ever use it tbh but 1 10 years old still works
just reinstalling 3 gb of updates now right pita tho my fault for not backing it up tbh. sata 2 drive lasted near 7 years tho
My previous drives had lasted years but who knows. The updates are certainly a pain from a fresh install thats for sure.
