    -Try a different USB drive
-Uninstall USB drivers in device manager and let Win 7 reinitialise them
-Live boot a Windows or Linux OS from USB and use that to copy the required drivers over to your hard drive.

    Hey Todd90,

Providing your new pc with the maximus mobo is all running, the best thing is to download all your drivers onto the usb then plug that into your new machine and install them all.
I had this issue with my motherboard as it is a non standard NIC so windows doesnt have the drivers.

Also i expect it is missing usb 3 drivers, so best to use a usb 2.0 port if you have one.

Re: Freshly installed windows 7 errors in device manager

Yeah the keyboard and mouse will work with win7 normal drivers, unfortunately much like my board the maximus has different drivers needed for the NIC and other connections on the mobo.

Its a bit of a difficult one unless you want to take the disk out and connect it in a caddy then copy the files onto it that way?

Yes - this is similar to my boot from USB option.

Re: Freshly installed windows 7 errors in device manager

Your mobo has 4x USB 2.0, ports you shouldn't have any trouble using these. Here's an extract taken from the Tweaktown review of your mobo:

The IO panel features only 4x USB 2.0 ports (the lowest one below the PS/2 connector is for USB BIOS Flashback), PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse, BIOS Flashback button, Display Port, HDMI port, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C, 1x USB 3.1 Type-A, 2x USB 3.0, RJ-45 1GBit NIC port, and TOSLINK connector with gold plated audio jacks. Some people might be a little surprised to see so few USB 3.0 ports on the back panel, and ASUS could have added a few more. However, I believe that ASUS designed this board to be kind of like a barebones overclocker, and overclockers prefer chipset IO to hubs and controllers, and in that regard the USB 2.0 count on the IO panel becomes more acceptable.
