over the internet or over a lan? if it was over the internet surely it'd be more logical to transfer the file to be printed?
its doable , but I think the print server have to be running windows 2000 or 2k3 server.

Also if you use the microsoft RDP protocol you can map local printers if the remote server has the right drivers loaded.
what software are you using to remote control ?

It'll b done over t'internet.
The proggy used for controlling the PC will be PCAnywhere.
Machine A has some software on it that when it prints just prints to the default printer, which when its being used locally is fine, however, the software also does accounts type stuff which is why it'll b used remotely by the accounts woman (B), when she prints she'll need it to print to her printer on her machine, so the idea is she accesses the machine remotely, changes the default printer to her local printer then when it prints it prints to her, would b easier if the software asked u where u wanted it to print when u tell it too but it doesnt it just prints to the default printer...
Machine A is using Win2kServer, machine b is XP Pro
Anyone owt else to add?
Do what Moby-Dick suggested. Ditch PC Anywhere and use RDP (remote resktop). It's comes with winXP/2K3 and is a free download from Microsoft for 2k and it works. Then the remote user can print directly to their local printer.

the windows 2k box has terminal service built into it. I think 2k terminal services connects local printers from a TS session.
I'll check and see what pc anywhere offer in terms of remote printing.

Its a pain to set up. THats all I have to add...having tried to do it with some silly software thing...was kind of cool, with users taking their laptops home or into the office and working on the same stuff, was but also a bit of a pain really.

I think it is possible to enable printing to the PCanywhere Remote (machine B ) from the host ( Machine A ) - just trying to find something on symantecs website.
edit: found it
