get media player classic, get ahold of real codecs from somewhere. combine.
or u could try googling for something called Real Alternative, thers also a Quicktime Alternative,i think it might be something 2 do with MPC tho.
Pretty sure its part of the KazaaLite Mega codec pack thingy

Oh right, forgot to mention i once had that real alternative/media player classic and it use to cause my gfx to crash and revert back to 640x480 @ 16colours usually halfway through a vid, very annoying. Unless there is a new version of it, its not very good for my system![]()
You mean helixplayer or realone? Or is there a more recent realplayer?Originally Posted by directhex
I use RealPlayer 10 in Linux, it's really good, small, light - love it..
What i (and many others) dont like about the standard realplayer is all the bullsh*t they chuck in, all those sneaky little links and apps that run in the background always trying to send info back etc. God i hate that evil crap
I've installed RealOne2.0, bad idea but its the only thing that would play the files i had, i tried realplayer 5,6,7,8 and all of them said i needed to update the player to play the files...probably another scam by real to get me to upgrade to their newer smarter spyware filled bloated POS software
Is this the Windoze version?Originally Posted by Marcos

the windows version is bloated & loaded with spyware. the linux version is lightweight & minimalist.Originally Posted by Red10
and there ARE two players - realplayer for linux is helixplayer plus closed-source codecs.
you can get helix and the real codecs if you want - but that's what realplayer for linux IS, so there's no massive benefit to doing so
Yeah...slight problem, im running windows XP, so what use is a linux player to me?![]()
None what so ever but its just an excuse for the *nix ppl to tell u how great it is and how much windows sucks![]()

basically though, that's correct - and it highlights the problem with using properietary formats for media; you're locked into using their software & bending over & taking whatever they provide alongside it. there's absolutely no reason for a company to tie themselves into proprietary formats nobody likes - with some high profile trailblazers who don't lock you into bloaty spyware
So my only option is to use real-alternative?
Guess i'll have to give it another go
