which linux distributions distribute with bin/cue combinations? it's not a format linux recognises natively, which would make its use awkward

i'd make sure you don't have .bin files, which are commonly executable programs (linux ignores file extensions, .bin is seen as a convenient replacement for .exe)

I don't know which app can be used in Linux, but you should be able to mount the disc using Daemon Tools in windows.
Wise old man won't you help me please? My house is a squash and a squeeze.

you can check the contents of a file with the linux 'file' command

    e.g.
    directhex@dib:~$ file maxpayne1-05patch.exe
maxpayne1-05patch.exe: MS-DOS executable (EXE), OS/2 or MS Windows
    directhex@dib:~$ file xfce4-4.2RC3-installer.bin
xfce4-4.2RC3-installer.bin: Bourne shell script text executable

i'm still not convinced it'd help - no linux distribution is going to be distributed as a format which can't be used seamlessly under linux (such as bin/cue), and a .bin on its own is unlikely to be anything other than a linux binary (as i said, .exe style).

of course, 'linux distribution' could always be a euphamism for 'warezed game' or somesuch, in which case alcohol would do the job, when provided with a .cue

When I download the 5 CD set of slackware they were in bin and cue style, and some num nut didnt enclude any cue's! I tried for ever trying to figure it out! Infact I have a thread here asking about it... Any way, if its truly a bin it will work... On a side note, what does the cue do?

If it's a true CD bin, it'll just be a raw ISO and can be burnt as one. There are several data formats for CDs using different 'books' for different applications, ie Audio CD, CD-ROM. The cue file specifies which mode the CD is to be burnt in. Not necessary if you know your BIN file contains CD-ROM image.

cue is a text file detailing the start and stop points for different data sessions on a cd - such as mode1, mode2, cdaudio, etc

Can't you convert the bin file into an iso file (use this) and then burn it?
