WinXp SP3 to VMware workstation troubles booting

Hello, my old PC (with winxp sp3) died. So I made tib image using Acronis 2015 v18 build 6525. I then tried to convert the tib image to virtual VMware computer by using the vmware converter standalone, but the converter did not read the tib file !

So I booted the VMware computer using the bootable acronis CD, and restored the v18 acronis image to it. Rebooted the VMware and it does not boot from c: at all.

I then checked the VMware computer from winxp cd and from repair console I ran c: with chkdsk /r
    Tried to do fixmbr
    Then fixboot

But the VMware does not c: at all. All files are there. I booted the VMware using WINXP SP3 CD and made Repair and it does not boot afterwards.

    What am I missing here???

    Is the partition active?

    Define "does not boot."

When it "doesn't boot", is the result a BSOD that says 7B?

You either have the wrong disk controller set up in VMWare, or you haven't restored all the disk partitions correctly.

No BSOD, the vmware loads bios and that's it.

Re: WinXp SP3 to VMware workstation troubles booting

Hello, I virtualized my old PC WinXP to VMware worksation v7.
I made tib image using Acronis 9.5 and then using VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client I converted the tib to the VMWare maschine.

I then removed the old hardware using this guide
    http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarge...2v-conversion/

    But I get this error:

Found New Hardware - "your hardware is installed but might not work properly until you reboot".... This is followed by another pop-up box entitled:

System Setting Change, with the message: "Windows has finished installing new devices. The software that supports your device requires that you restart your computer. You must restart your computer before the new setting will take effect".

After I reboot the red X is shown, but every time I reboot the Found New Hardware is shown again
