Tinywall vs Windows Firewall Control - Windows 10

I've always used an add-on software firewall like Comodo or ZoneAlarm. But I'd like to have a go with the Windows 10 firewall.

I need to be able to block specific apps that contain sensitive information, which could include apps that some firewalls might whitelist. So I think I need an addon like Tinywall or Windows Firewall Control.

Is there any particular reason to go for one rather than the other? They both seem quite similar.

Using Bitdefender Total Security as an example this software allows you manually adjust the firewall which means you can force Bitdefender to allow a specific software or app from working.

Can you be more specific? If you specifically block an application from network access using the Windows firewall it should be blocked, even if allowed by default (a deny should always overrule an allow rule). I'm not familiar with either of those products, but the inbuilt Windows firewall is actually really rather good (when used in Advanced mode).

That said: if you're looking for something that blocks everything and then you tweak to allow perhaps you might want to make use of these things.

Thanks both. I tried both and couldn't get them to work properly, might be Windows 10 incompatability.

Sophos UTM + MS security essentials+ windows firewall.

effectively everything gets scanned by 3 A/V engines and an application layer firewall before getting to your PC.
