One of our staff created a PDF file and for some reason it is damaged. I tried to open it with Adobe Acrobat Pro, but no luck. It is a VERY important manual. Any help would be appreciated.

Open it in a text editor to see whether it's actually a PDF. It should have something like %PDF at the start.
I've had "corrupt" PDFs reported to me before, when they were actually shortcuts to a PDF from a Mac, but with a .pdf extension. You need to look at the contents.

You could try a different PDF reader such as NitroPDF just in case it is a software issue.
Couldn't your staff just output the PDF again? I wouldn't think that PDF would be the native format of your document, so there must be a "source" file somewhere.
