    Windows 7 Home Premium/ windows 10

My question is this..?? I picked up a refurbished computer from a shop , it came with windows 7, everything works well. Until I tried to up grade to windows 10 !! It won't let me up grade and I periodically see this statement !!" This is not a genuine version" I have no product number on the machine. !! What can I do, Is there any help for me ??

Nothing. Other than go back to the shop and tell them the copy of Windows you have on the computer is illegal. As such, if they have sold a computer and advertised it as having Windows and are unwilling to rectify the situation. Then they may have broke the law.

Other than this, there is nothing anyone here can do. Its between you and the shop you bought it from.

If they are unwilling to help you then you can report them to Microsoft as they are selling refurbished computers with pirate copies of Windows.

shop might have used one of those generic volume keys to install it. they allow you to install the software but not activate it.

have you checked your paperwork you got from the shop? might be a key in there somewhere for you to activate and register it to you properly.

    otherwise. its as neonplanet says.

We buy used W7 keys from a seller on Amazon, never had a problem with activating or being deactivated further down the line. It makes it a lot cheaper than having to buy a new version. However, official refurbished keys are not eligible for a free W10 upgrade. So I would avoid if you want W10.
