Indeed it does using CPU-z program... anyway I can't find it in the bios to check even if NX is under a different name (maybe Asus has decided people who would buy this cheaper board wouldn't want NX off so it's always on, also win 10 insider is running on the same computer, and I disconnected that HD so there was only the win 7 HD to upgrade
And what's puzziling is on the MS site they say any programs that won't work with W10 (on the upgrade) will be disabled and I would be informed which ones,
The problem seems to centre around the re-boot after installing as it just boots back into win 7 (and I haven't got easybcd installed), also checked for any bad sectors on HD.
Anyway if I solve this puzzle in the future will post the answer...thanks all

Apparently you can now activate Windows 10 directly with a Windows 7 key: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/w...-in-windows-10

When upgrading from win 7 to win 10 it doesn't ask for a key if win 7 is activated...I had two other HDs that were upgraded to win 10 with no problem but that was on a GA-Z77-D3H.....and I know what you are going to say i.e. Try and upgrade on that computer H'mm might confuse Win 10 being activated on one computer and transferring HD to another.

Yeah I knew you'd tried the direct upgrade - my thinking was that if you install Win 10 directly on the system it might work. But you'd need a spare HDD to try. In fact if you had a spare HDD you could just try Win 10 without activating to see if it would work at all.

Personally though, I'm happy with 7 for now.

Tried with DVD from MS media creation tool.....but it's American in that they say I would have to re-install language pack (I suppose UK English) while installing...but same problem in that after about 1/2 hour it crashes like using the win 10 upgrade icon method (although using this upgrade it's in UK English).

Re: A puzzle for gt 240 and gts 240 etc upgrading to win 10

Well for the time spent I just wanted some answers and have got one:-
With a cpu 8400 and gts 240 and doing a clean install of win 10 there were no problems and win 10 even updated the drivers for the gts 240...so if you have the gts240 and would assume gt240 (and probably many more) you can go to win 10 on the cheap, and the gts240 is quite good on most games and did try it on tomb raider with reduced settings.
