free screen recorder software / KIS flaw

Can anyone recommend a simple screen recorder software that will record my screen actions while I operate a browser window? I only need it briefly to record something for a few minutes that I can then send to Kaspersky to demonstrate a flaw in their (not so comprehensive) parental control on KIS 2016 while using search engines eg with bing.

It would need to work while Kaspersky is running and not get blocked by it. It also needs to be clean and uninstall without leaving nasties behind.

    Any suggestions much appreciated.

In fact if anyone on here uses KIS and would like to see if they can replicate the fault do let me know.

(Mods, should I post a link to the Kaspersky forum thread directly? Not sure if that would breech forum rules here given it basically describes how to bypass parental filters to browse unfiltered - is everyone on Hexus over 18?)

What version of Windows are you using? If it's a recent version then you can use Problem Steps Recorder, which is built into Windows.

OBS Multiplatform/OBS Studio is free and can record a window out to mp4/mkv/etc, been messing around with it lately and seems to be what a lot of "streamers" use.

In the past I've used CamStudio, which is free but a bit shabby around the edges and no longer developed as far as I can tell.

Does Microsoft Expression Encoder still exist? I think that also used to do it.

No worries, presumably re-posting the text here would also be a no? Genuinely interested if others can replicate the flaw on other machines - so they can't say it's my machine.

Re: free screen recorder software / KIS flaw

thanks that's mighty useful but I was after something that recorded the whole thing rather than just does a series of screenshots. That will come in handy for other things however!
