Re: Windows 10 upgrade ! I love it :)
the one thing I'm wondering about is the free upgrade license itself.
mums computer is running win 7 fine and dandy, she quite likes it and objects to change. I put chrome on, but she doesn't use it, uses internet explorer because its got internet in the name, that's what you go on the internet with. old people logic :p
so, say I upgrade to win 10 and get the free upgrade license, which will assign a key to the machine, so can reinstall and auto-activate win 10 as many times as I like. then she doesn't like win 10, so use the inbuilt 'rollback to win 7' option.
will the win 10 key still be assigned at the reg-server end? so if my mum changes her mind again later in the year after the free upgrade ends, I could just put a fresh Win 10 on and it will still auto-activate?
I'm guessing its a case of 'wait and see'. just wondering if anyone else has the same conundrum.
Re: Windows 10 upgrade ! I love it :)
I believe so yes. I don't see how it's any different from performing a clean install of windows 10 after the offer period. I think the rollback period is more about ease of rollback due to still having old windows files lying around rather than a license issue.
Re: Windows 10 upgrade ! I love it :)
I still have Windows 8.1 and I'm not planning on upgrading to Windows 10 in the near future. I don't know if it's worth it. Plus, I'm not having any problems with my Win 8.1 now so why upgrade?
Re: Windows 10 upgrade ! I love it :)
Is there an easy way to refuse the upgrade. Last night I got a dialog say Upgrade tonight or any of the next 5 days.....
I don't want this issue at all.
Re: Windows 10 upgrade ! I love it :)
I upgraded my wife's W7 installation to W10 on her laptop via USB. It was a straightforward process and went well. Only gripe is her headphones aren't recognised when they are plugged in, so she has to go into the sound settings to change between speakers and them.
Upgraded my own W8.1 PC and after fiddling to get it how i like it seems very familiar. No complaints so far.

Re: Windows 10 upgrade ! I love it :)
I now have three computers with Windows 10 all running fine :) One is PRO version which I just done the other night , i only to come across a problem regarding the Realtek Ethernet Lan connection .
It just didn't work ! I did everything possible to try to fix it . In the end i thought i try a usb wireless adapter and came across the same problem ! Again I did everything possible checking and re-checking , googling and drinking lots of coffee . There i was begining to think it was down to the windows 10 install X2 when at 6:21 AM it worked ! It just found the connection for online and i was able to update :)
Something to do with the router maybe but a almost 8 hour windows install was my longest for one bloody problem .
Damn my determination to resolve and complete things !!!!
Re: Windows 10 upgrade ! I love it :)
I did use a windows10 machine recently, and it was OK.
But I'm quite happy with Win 7 on a VM for my legacy applications (two of them) so I have absolutely no reason at all to change.
