There's already a software sticky at the top - probably best putting all these in that.

Not going to list any sourceforge stuff, as that should be fairly easy to find for all and sundry (there's a sourceforge project for EVERYTHING!) - my current favourites are FMA/Gaim/Cdex/Audacity.

however, some contributions, some of which are shareware/donateware/nagware, but I've added them anyway, if they aren't in the sticky.

    Game server query tool:
    Kquery : http://www.kquery.com

Gallery Software (fairly idiot proof, from google)
    Picasa : http://www.picasa.com

    Guitar Tuner:
    AP Guitar Tuner: http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/AP_Guitar_Tuner/

DVD Authoring tool (changes various video into a DVD image)
DIKO: http://www.vmesquita.com - this is hostageware though.

    R4 Visualisations Plugin, for Winamp:
    http://www.rabidhamster.org/R4/

FTP client: (getting old now) LeechFTP
    http://stud.fh-heilbronn.de/~jdebis/...downloads.html

The best media play is free www.winamp.com

Free DVD/CD burner - http://www.deepburner.com/ (but why bother when Nero can be purchaced for under £5)

One of the best free MP3 rippers IMO is Audiograbber, but i don't have a link sorry.

Of course firefox, but don't forget it's sister Thunderbird for email
