Standalone Character Creator?
Heya,
Is there a decent free (or just a couple of quid) Character Creator app?
Friend wants something for her D&D groups, so needs to be fantasy-based.
She's looking for something a bit like the Skyrim or Black Desert (no longer available, apparently) sort of thing, but a standalone exe like the Dragon Age: Origins one... About as simple as the sliders and picklists, but more detailed, where you have a range of options and tweaks to face, body and clothing... ideally able to churn out pictures, too.
She has an Android phone and a PC, but doesn't have a Steam account (yet).
Is there anything like that?

3D or will 2D do? If 2D then Hero Machine 3:

or
Commercial/non-ad supported-wise Campaign cartographer has a character artist plug in:

Disclaimer: I used to know someone who worked for profantasy, but this has nothing to do with my link since I've never tried the character artist bit and can't comment on it's suitability.
Re: Standalone Character Creator?
I'm actually playing with Fuse at the moment.
Bit clunky and lacking in poses, outfits and so on... but it's in 3D and you can upload and animate the character... rather cool!
Re: Standalone Character Creator?
Isn't Daz Studio free? Kind of like Poser.
Re: Standalone Character Creator?
Yeah, I'm looking into Daz and Poser, although they might be too complex for her needs...
Re: Standalone Character Creator?
Not being funny, but would Skyrim actually work out? I remember some of the mods that allow you to customise your character again use teleport to almost a photo booth where the background is plain. You could then screenshot with Steam or MSI Afterburner. There are usually mods for most types of clothing or equipment, also others to toggle the hud on and off.
p.s. should say I haven't played in around a year and a half, but I used to mod quite heavily.

"What is Steam?"...
She is a basic level PC user. She doesn't have Steam and I'd certainly not give her something like Afterburner to play with... juuuuuuuust in case!!
Besides, even I haven't modded Skyrim, so I wouldn't feel comfortable suggesting something that I myself have zero knowledge about.
Re: Standalone Character Creator?
Okay fair dos.
I didn't expect her to do the modding, just open it up and jump into the character creator. Anyway just a thought.
