Proper way to instal windows and drivers?

ok, evry time I instal windows and run 3dMark05 my score is up at 5,500 or so... But a few days later all I can get is 4,500... I was told its cause my drivers need to be instaled in a certine order when I do a clean instal for things to work right! So I was wondering whats the right order of things to instal?

I read in Maximum PC to instal in this order:

    Windows + SP2
    Chipset drivers (restart)
    DirectX 9.0C
    GPU drivers (restart)
    Other drivers
Then run windows update to finnish updating...
    Then other apps

Does that seem right to you? Or is there any tricks to doing this properly?

That is right. Shouldn't need to install DX9.0c however as this comes with XP SP 2.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

When you say Chipset drivers do you mean from a floppy like doing a BIOS update as opposed to using Device manager?

No, chipset drivers = chipset drivers, you'll find them on the CD that comes with the mobo.

Well, actually posting your spec would help, as well as which OS you are using.
