    Windows10

I have Windows 10, it works okay, but every issue I have had, whether it is audio missing on video on IE, or Win10 not recognising drives etc its been down to a new option or quirk to the new system.

So I have been on Microsoft's forums to find a solution and the staff there haven't got a clue!!

Every fix I have found has been on youtube or a member of the public commenting on a MS forum thread. How is it that MS staff have no idea what's going on with Win10, and the public have better expertise than the people who created it?

    Sorry winge over

If you got an answer on the forums then it's very unlikely it came from MS staff.

That is how things have been since my first contact with MS support back in about 1986.

It is also one of the reasons Linux has taken off in mission critical server roles, and why some of us laugh when people say you should buy commercial software rather than use open source because you are buying support.

There is a special laugh for people who say if something goes wrong with commercial software then you have someone to sue over the problems

..but I'd say big corps and the government using MS products and MS would bend over backwards to help them with their top team, but individual Joe public probably gets a "telephone" operator

Clearly people who say such things have never read the EULA

Not really from what I have seen, though Dell have been accused of that plenty in the past. Dell company support seems excellent, regardless of company size. Never heard good things about consumer support though.

    Re: Windows10

MS charge for support. You can contact them directly, but they don't tend to respond to you on forums unless you have an account with a concierge service, and even then they'll only respond if nobody else does.

Not from corporate lawyers. The laugh comes at renewal time when said problems are brought up again and as a result a huge discount is secured. Or even maybe that agreement cannot be reached and huge mega corporation decides to dump Microsoft Windows and start transitioning to Linux.

    Re: Windows10

If the worst problem you have with win10 is the forum support then sounds to me like you're doing well, (or haven't read the EULA)
