is it just me, or is Photoshop CS really awkward to use? I much prefer PSP.

Heh, you are talking two different packages for two completely different jobs imo. You would be better comparing paintshop pro with paint, than photoshop.
Photoshop is designed for editing photo's funny enough. Paint shop pro is more arty imo, create your buttons/graphics for web page.
And no Photoshop is flipping superb.

Nothing comes close to PS imo. Its hard for the first few weeks but after that its pretty easy to use. One of my favourite programs right now.![]()
Photochop all the way baby!
btw, the web stuff in CS is excellent![]()

after using PSP for 7 years (since v5) and PS for 3 months, i can safely say PS widdles on PSP from a great height.
Although comparisons between the two are unfair given the massive price difference. For the money, PSP does what it does very well.
Paint Shop Pro here. Its a tool. It is pretty darn good if you get a good book about it. And its reasonably user friendly without one. Plus it came free with 100 blank CD'sin PC World (version 7 that is)

Photoshop is the better program!
Theres no need to upgade to CS if u have V7. The extra features of CS arnt worth the upgrade. Going on prior knowledge i think CS has had more photographic updates hence i think its aimed more at photo editors or what ever you call them. Thats what my experience of it is any way.Originally Posted by shiato storm
and much better web integration tools, improvements for photographers (shadow/highlight tool, lens filters, colour matching, etc etc), tighter integration with the rest of the CS family..Originally Posted by directhex

Currently using PSP 8 and gf uses PS 7.
PSP 9 introduces a far more arty feel but PS 7 is better once you've learnt how it operates. PSP in general is much more practical for file transformations, switching file types and general compatibility. In PSP 8 however they still hadn't got their psd support spot on.
If you're generating web buttons Fireworks is great.
If you want to do artwork or DTP go PS. Detailed photo manip possible but painfull for a beginner.
If you want a QUICK photo manipulation, viewing and reviewing tool go PSP. Also if you want to work with PNG files for web images with layer support I'd suggest PSP. (I don't know how good PS CS's PNG support is)
For web menus use Fireworks, especially if you have Dreamweaver!![]()
