You can get 9.2 now. Im downloading 9.1 from linuxiso.org. It only needs one cd so I am fine. Is there much difference from 9.2? Anyway 9.2 is about 3GB so it a no go.

9.2 is, amongst other things, a HUGE bugfix for the rather messy 9.1

I got 9.1, its only for trying out. I have created a 10GB partition and then i booted from the cd. I canged the boot loader to LILO, but then i dont no what to select to get it to install into the 10GB partition labeled "Linux (L". What is it? Anyone done a dual boot linux before?

Ok, when i couldnt find the partition when trying to install linux, i used its partition thing and took 10GB of empty windows space to make the linus partition. It turns out that it took the 10000MB partition from my 10240MB "Linux (L" partition. this is so confusing. Im gunna go back and have another look at the linus installer.

If windows labelled the partition L:, then its been formatted by Windows and Linux will see it as already in use by Windows. Best just to leave some empty unpartitioned space and let SuSE installer create the necessary partitions inside that.

If ME is on a different partition, just re-format the partition. You then need to edit boot.ini (hidden file in the root of XP drive) to remove the ME option at boot up.

i think the first problem here is that linux doesn't use windows NTFS or FAT32, drive letters, or anything like that. it wouldn't have simply given you an option to install to L:, since that information is part of the windows registry - it simply saw a number of windows-only partitions.

fixmbr might also be needed. and you're assuming that ntldr and boot.ini are on the xp drive - they're more likely to be on the ME drive, since msdos windowses can only boot from hd*1
