    dumb Windows Media Centre question

Looking to replace the X-Box ( plays DivX movies ) and DVD Recorder, with a Media Centre system.

I don't want a monitor, just the box, but can anyone tell me if....

I can add codecs to MP10 to allow it to play DivX/XVid movies ?

media center is basically XP Pro with extra software to do the media bits. you can add codecs in the normal manner - though i'm not sure how happy microsoft will be about you loading files which aren't sncoded to your machine & written with WMV9

Media Center 2005 is more than happy to decode xvid/divx/mpeg4 content, I do it myself all the time. As MCE 2005 uses Windows Media Player for playback of all audio, same applies.
