    IE hogging CPU

When I'm browsing any page that is long, scrolling down causes the cpu to jump to 100% usage. What could be causing this? I'm using IE 6.0.

    Thanks

The problem is that you are not using Mozilla Firebird

IE will be causing it - pretty much anything will take up 100% cpu usage when doing stuff, even moderate work like scrolling a page. It doesn't mean that IE will stop everything else from working though - if you had another task running flat out they'd approx share 50% of the CPU time. The system idle process has extremely low priority so doing anything else that requires constant updating like scrolling will cause the idle percentage to drop to 0. Nothing to worry about.

Hi Roughneck, you didn't mention if this was causing problems or if things were slowing down as a result of this, are they?

Wow, so I am not the only one with this problem.
IE has been slower ever since I've updated from 5.0 to 6.0.

What machine are you using though Rough Neck. I am running a pretty slow machine so I am not too surprised. What I wouldn't like to see so much lag after I upgrade!

(Windows lag so much at times for me that the clock falls behind after a while) : eek:

I have to agree Opera is nice and fast compared to IE.. and doesn't lag out my PC like IE does.

They don't call it overclocking for no reason.

Wow, just installed Mozilla 1.4, and it’s noticeably faster than Netscape which I was using. Shame about the crappy different coloured squares around the buttons, anyway to change that so it actually matches the colour scheme I’ve selected for Windows? What’s this “Mozilla Firebird”, any different or is this just Mozilla 1.4 that I have installed. Shame I still have to use IE for those damn ASP pages.

    ---edit---

Just messed around with the themes and the silly boxes went away. So is Mozilla actually faster than Netscape or is it just my imagination? I thought they were they where more or less the same browser?
