Is it a Microsoft account or local? If it's MS you can reset online, if not you may be looking at a reinstall.

If you have encrypted your data with Bitlocker you have a problem, otherwise Ultimate Boot CD will let you clear/reset an 'offline' Windows password in minutes.

You download the ISO image of Ultimate Boot CD and burn it to a blank CD or alternatively use Universal USB Installer to put it onto a blank USB flash drive.

For a tutorial have a look on Youtube, there are literally dozens of videos taking you though the necessary steps.

Have you got a Microsoft account? Is your Windows 10 account a local one or a Microsoft account? If it is a Microsoft account the login isn't the one from Windows 7 anymore, you have to enter the password from your Microsoft account.

Probably not bricked, but your account may be locked out pending a forced password reset. They did that to be about 2 months back, I had been using a 7-digit only password, and they wanted 8. If you can log in to Windows Live or Outlook.com (from anywhere, coffee shop, internet kiosk, etc), they should prompt you to reset your password as you log in.
