Maxtor 250gb showing as 130gb

Hi,

I recently wiped me comp, and the windows installer showed the drive as 130gb even though it is 250. I had hoped going into windows would allow me to format the extra into another partition but no go

Last time I formatted I had to install windows on a 80gb ide to get winxp on, then had to format the sata within windows to its full 250gb capacity.

Then I had to reboot with the 80gb ide unplugged and install windows onto the sata.

Does anyone know of a quicker way round this? I dont even know where to start trying to get support about this.
