Exclamation Conflicts between nvidia drivers and Sis drivers!?

HI, This is possibly my darkest day in my computer history. Yesterday, as you may know I recieved my replacement 6600gt instead of my 9800pro which went wrong just like one before it. I did the usual thing driver cleaner etc and installs the newest nvidida driver but guess what, massive artifacting in all games. I tried the ones off the xfx driver cd but the same thing. I then re-formatted but still the same. I have tried the card in my spare pc which only has a generic 300w power supply and the card works perfectly. I can only assume that the motherboard is at fault. I'm going to try and send the motherboard back as faulty to e-buyer but they can only offer direct replacement and i hear that nvidia drivers have some kind of incompatability with SiS drivers!! So now i'm thinking should I just stuff it and buy a new board of go through the hassle of sending it back and hoping for the best? On top of that, my wireless card has broken because the connector to the card has come loose, what a great day . Thanks for any help guys, as you can tell i'm in a bit of a state at the moment and would appreciate the help.

Is there a newer driver which will fix these incompatabilities, I have only tried the 6x.xx series?

Guru of 3D generally have the beta and release drivers, usually repackaged to strip extra languages I think.

This is the ForceWare 71.81 for XP/2000:

However, I tried a 6800LE in an HP Pavilion system which contains (you guessed it) an SiS chipset... and I had massive artifacting, with every nVidia driver behaving differently but none of them correctly.

I tried so many versions (including the ones meant to address an SiS compatibility issue) and reinstalled Windows from scratch that I got dizzy - in the end it went back to the shop for a refund.

I bought a Powercolour X800 Pro, put it into the same rig and it works flawlessly.

good news, the 67.03 drivers that curly gave me work, thanks, but they don't give great performance in half-life 2 compared with my 9800 pro, few slowdowns and stuff. The drivers from guru of 3d seem to be corrupted because when I extract them they are all corrupted and won't install, is there anywhere else i can get the 7x.xx drivers? thanks, John.

Forget the rubbish i put about the 71.80 drivers being corrupted, i just hadn't put in the password(idiot) but cool bits still comes up with 300 clock!! Is there another tool i can use to test my clock frequency of the card (6600gt xfx) or Can I just simply overclock to 500. Thanks, John.

glad to hear the drivers worked for you, the 300 you see is the 2d clockrate, iirc you can use a dropdown menu to show the 3d clockrate, which with the XFX 6600GT should be set at 500, the cloackrate is droped to 300 when the driver is in 2d mode ie: the desktop.

Cheers mate, i was worried there for a second. I'm only getting 63fps in cs:s now but with my 9800 pro i got about 68fps. Strange, any thoughts?

could be any number of things, could be the drivers themselves or your running at a higher res than on the 9800 pro or maybe you have vsynch turned on in the driver options any of these might bring your frame rate down.

I'm getting worse performance in pretty much all games with thr 6600gt than my 9800 pro. Are there any driver optimisations or tricks that i can do for this?
