Is XP Pro worth the extra cost at all?
Is XP Pro worth the extra cost at all?
The differences. Personally i dont think the differences are worth the cost difference especially at retail.
EDIT: If you require the features of Pro then obviously you'd go for pro but the average home user probably wont put many of Pros extra features to good use.

Cool, thanks for the help
Yeah the only one you're likely to be bothered about is the inability to join Domains

I dont have pro the only thing i want that home doesnt have is user restirctions.
the home admin or restricted is cack. for example a restricted user cant click on the time
in the systray to find out the date and stuff.
pro has a great deal of unnecessary cr*p in it that most people don't really need...that said Home doesn't seem to have an aweful lot of stuff that you might need thats in pro. they should have released an inbetween version...perhaps called 'self-employed Professional working from Home' lol!

pro has the networking features.
R-points pyramid scheme is NOT allowed on HEXUS. Please do not add it back again - thank you.
I think Pro is the only one to support SMP. I imagine that this applies to SMT as well (if so, it might be a good idea for Pentium 4 HT owners to have Pro).
Well, it all depends on whether you are buying a retail or OEM copy of the OS.
If you are buying the OEM version, theres about a 20 to 30 quid difference in price, so I'd go for the Pro edition just in case you need to get onto a domain at work/school/whatever sometime in the near future.
Retail wise, the price difference is MASSIVE, so I'd definately give it a no no.
New Sig on the Way...
