REDUCE speaker's volume output?
My work laptop has an incredibly high volume output for the 3.5mm jack. I can't have it any higher then 2-3 (out of 100) for comfortable listening. At 100% i might as well have a desk speaker sat on my table, not ear phones - it will shout distorted music across the room.
I don't like this - as If i forget to turn it down/something defaults it to max volume and I don't realise until ear phones are in & I hit play i could do myself some harm.
Tried googling it, but everyone else has the opposite problem to me.
Is there any way to 'behind the scenes' limit the max volume that the Windows Volume slider can be increased to? I know I can turn it down via Spotify/whatever app is playing the music, but I want to 'hard code' it behind the scenes.

lo bud
When you plug them in I think Win10 will recognise them in the Sound Settings and you should be able to adjust the vlume seperate to the speakers I think
Left clck the speakers bottom right of the desktop
Look for a little /\ pointing arrow on the right side... see if it shows all the devices. If the headphones are there, click then and change volume of them
Re: REDUCE speaker's volume output?
I had the same problem with a Corsair headset. After some googling I ended up installing Equalizer APO and leave it on minimum which makes things comfortable around 50% volume. Volumes can be too loud or quiet depending on drivers as well. The auto-detected driver for the other half's AiO computer was far too quiet, updated the drivers to those provided by the manufacturer and it's fine again. Perhaps some new drivers?
Re: REDUCE speaker's volume output?
Thanks guys, it's a work laptop so fairly robustly locked down. Installing software & fiddling with the drivers is denied!
As for the Arrow Zak, that's tied in with the volume i am adjusting anyway 9/100 is about as loud as I feel happy with. :(
Re: REDUCE speaker's volume output?
Playback Devices > Properties on your device > Levels
There is often a Boost setting, might want to turn that down a bit and/or look on the enhancements tab for something that is effecting the output.
Re: REDUCE speaker's volume output?
That's pretty strange! Have you got very low impedance headphones? I have DT990 600 ohm and my smart phone can just about drive them to an acceptable volume. I realise they're not designed for use with a freaking PHONE, but still, it works, why mess with that.
