I use a combination of MS antispyware beta, spybot s&d and adaware. also spyblaster to stop them in the first place.
if you had to pick one, which one?
The MS beta is very good IMHO.
A2 (A squared) and spyware doctor are both very good and free.
I can't pick just one because they all pick up things that the others miss.
If you use spyware blaster and MS beta then you should be fine.
SpyBot
Spybot S&D, in conjunction with Adaware SE works well one gets stuff the other misses
as i always say firefox + spywareblaster + spybot = :)
obviously the easiest way to avoid spyware is to avoid the dodgy sites that give it to you in the first place tho ;)

apparently: Giant AntiSpyware or Microsoft AntiSpyware beta, Webroot Spy Sweeper, CWShredder will get rid of the most stuff.

Seem to do the trick nicely.
I used the MS one (it found nothing but Messenger Plus files and cookies) until i found i couldn't turn it off!
Yes i could tell it to hide the sys tray icon but if i only want it to run once in a blue moon why odes it have to be resident in the system memory?
I uninstalled it.
I think if you use three types of anti-spyware programs, spyware will be a thing of the past:
I use the Microsoft Antispyware app, Spybot: Search & Destroy and Adaware, there've been occasions where the MS app missed a spybot, and the other also missed it but the third caught it...
Be sure you use Firefox as most of the ways Spyware gets onto to your PC is through dodgey websites that use several MS Internet Explorer 6 exploits to get onto PC and annoy the hell out of you...
And also be sure you use a good firewall app like ZoneAlarm or Kiera Personal Firewall 4, hope this info helps, happy surfing :P
P.S. Remember to keep the Spyware definitions up to date on all your anti spyware apps...
